Another important step towards improving the daily lives of Greeks abroad is made with the adoption of article 60 of the draft law of the Ministry of Interior "Regulations for land border posts, the strengthening of Local Government Organizations and other provisions" which modernizes the process of issuing passports.
Based on the above provision, which is the result of cooperation between the Ministers of Foreign Affairs George Gerapetritis, Citizen Protection Michalis Chrysochoidis and Digital Governance Dimitris Papastergiou, the way is legally paved for the digitization of the process of issuing passports for Greeks abroad, which will significantly reduce the time and cost of their issuance.
Its implementation, after the completion of the necessary technical procedures through the cooperation of the services of the above Ministries, will further promote the digitalization and efficiency of consular services.
This is an issue that Deputy Foreign Minister George Kotsiras is actively dealing with and which is a key objective of the Strategic Plan of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Greeks Abroad 2024-27.
