The Church of Saint Nicholas, which was destroyed in the September 11, 2001, terrorist attack on the World Trade Center in New York, is reopening on Tuesday, the day that its namesake saint is celebrated by the Greek Orthodox world.
The church, which is also a shrine dedicated to the victims of the attack, will resume usual services and parish life after undergoing a massive reconstruction, US broadcaster CBS reported.
Designed by celebrated Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava, the church sits atop Liberty Park overlooking the Memorial Pools and the 9/11 Museum.
Saint Nicholas has been opened for several special occasions over the past few months.
