The day's success was not measured solely in the kilometers covered, but primarily in the abundance of energy, teamwork, and support mobilized by the school's parents, students, and volunteers.
The "Marathon Sunday" event is a cornerstone in the TCS calendar, as it combines athletic excitement with the crucial role of supporting school activities through volunteering and giving back. This year, the organization exceeded all expectations, highlighting how deeply rooted the sense of community is.
The Parent Association: The Day’s Unsung Champion
The largest share of the success rightfully belongs to the school’s amazing Parent Association (PA).
"A huge thank you to our incredible Parent Association for organizing today’s 'Marathon Sunday' charitable event and to all the wonderful parent volunteers who made it a reality!" was stated in a relevant school announcement.
The role of the Parent Association in events of this magnitude is critical. Beyond securing funding, parents undertake the complex coordination: from collecting registrations and organizing support stations to managing the supply chain and, most importantly, maintaining the high morale of the marathon runners and younger athletes.
The message is clear: The energy and support of the parents are the pillars that keep the TCS community strong. Their selfless contribution serves as an example for students, teaching the value of collective action and responsibility.

From the School to the Streets of New York
While the New York Marathon is a global athletic event, the participation of the TCS school community adds a distinct, local dimension. "Marathon Sunday" is not just about the parents and educators who ran the 42 kilometers, but also about the hundreds of students who took part in shorter routes and activities, experiencing the atmosphere of the race and the unity of their school family.
The event confirms the deeply rooted tradition of "school spirit" in American schools, where participation in community activities is considered an integral part of the educational process.
Events of this kind are vital for independent schools in New York City, as the funds raised through the Parent Association often finance critical extracurricular activities, technology equipment, or arts programs that enrich the students' experience.

Committed to the Community
The success of "Marathon Sunday" sends a powerful message, not only about TCS's ability to organize large events but also about the parents' steadfast commitment to investing time and energy in their children’s educational environment.
The Parent Volunteers are the unsung heroes who, through their energy and example, keep the "school community spirit" alive in the heart of the metropolis. The TCS New York City community can be proud of the dedication and generosity it demonstrated in this year's charitable race.
