ERTFLIX, ERT's digital platform, recorded record traffic in October, according to ERT President Konstantinos Zoulas. While, the first two episodes of the new series "Deserted Land", which were screened in avant première in the packed "Tonia Marketaki" hall of the 64th Thessaloniki International Film Festival, captivated the audience.

"Deserted Land" written and directed by Giorgos Gikapeppas, with excellent actors and crew, is ERT's first fiction series produced by ERTFLIX, which is very important as it opens new perspectives on the digital platform of public television, which has been on a continuous upward trajectory for the last three years.
The entire series will be screened exclusively on ERTFLIX this December.
Present at the evening were the President of ERT, Konstantinos Zoulas, the General Director of Program of ERT, Konstantinos Papavasiliou, the General Director of ERT3, Filios Stagkos, the President of the Board of Directors of the Festival, Ria Thanouli, the artistic director of the Festival, Orestis Andreadakis, the director of the series, George Gikapeppas and the actors Danae Skiadis, George Karamichos, Stefania Marola and Stelios Xanthoudakis.
ERT President Konstantinos Zoulas: "This series will not stay only within the boundaries of Greece"
The President of ERT, Konstantinos Zoulas, in his speech before the screening of the first two episodes of the series, stressed, among other things, that "It is a great pleasure and honor for ERT to co-organize this event and that it is the first time in the long history of the Thessaloniki International Film Festival to present for the first time an original fiction series of Public Television. The joy is double for us at ERT because George Gikapepas' Deserted Country that you will watch soon is the first production of ERT's new child, ERTFLIX".
"ERTFLIX, which took place a few days ago when I was 3.5 years old, was born during the pandemic. ERTFLIX was created within ERT by ERT people without any outside help. This new platform has now become international as it is also accessible to millions of Greeks living outside Greece and not only with Greek but also with English subtitles", Mr. Zoulas pointed out.
Mr. Zoulas referred to the traffic of ERTFLIX saying that "in October 2023, it received more than 12 million visits in just one month. That's more than 400,000 views a day, and the majority wasn't on TVs, but on smaller screens. 30% of ERT fiction series are now viewed on mobile phones and a further 28% on computers and tablets."
Finally, he referred to director George Gikapeppas, who directed last year for ERT a huge success, The Bracelet of Fire, which had an excellent course and in just one week more than a million viewers had watched its eight episodes. After meeting for ERT's new production, Deserted Land, it took eight months to complete the new series.
The ERT President thanked all the technicians and actors, saying characteristically that he has the feeling that "this series will not stay only within the boundaries of Greece".
It is reminded that the eight episodes will be shown only on ERTFLIX and then it will be decided when they will be shown on TV. Four episodes will air on December 1 and four on December 15.
