Nia Vardalos became famous after the great success of her movie "My Big Fat Greek Wedding", released in 2002.
The hilarious commedy made two sequels when the last one just released.
The late actor took on the role of Gus Portokalos, father to Vardalos's character Toula Portokalos, who was famous for his obsession over
The original My Big Fat Greek Wedding directed by Joel Zwick, tells the story of Fotoula “Toula” Portokalos played by Vardalos, a young Greek-American woman who falls in love with Ian Miller, a non-Greek man played by John Corbett, while her whole Greek family is hugely worried because she is thirty years old and still unmarried!
Against the wishes of her parents, Toula agrees to marry the man she loves although he is not Greek and that was a great shock for the whole Portokalos family and a great test for her poor husband-to-be who had to face all the family in order to marry the woman he loved.
The filf was produced with a $5 million budget and went on to gross a very impressive $368.7 million at the box office.
All three movies are just a great and hillarious presentation of Greek diaspora in America and we just love it!
