Zuckerberg: Sweeping changes at Meta, Facebook and Instagram

Mark Zuckerberg

Mark Zuckerberg is making sweeping changes to Meta and its social networks Facebook and Instagram just before Trump returns to the White House. After abandoning the fact-checking strategy used to monitor the Facebook app, he announced that he will remove tampons from men's toilets and recruitment will be based on skill and not on pro-minorities criteria.

The co-founder of Facebook (now Meta) decided to abandon the fact-checking strategy used to monitor the Facebook app where a content team pored over posts and made sure no one was spreading hate speech or causing a stir with misinformation. Instead, the app will mirror the methods used by Elon Musk’s X app where users add a “community note” about potentially harmful content.

After admitting to censorship over vaccine side effects and ending fact checking in an attempt to align himself with the incoming government, he claimed that what companies need to succeed is more "masculine energy."

As he stressed, recruitment will be done on merit, putting a stop to the advantageous position of minorities, especially the LGBTQ community.

"The masculine energy I think is good and obviously society has enough of it, but I think the corporate culture was really trying to move away from it," the Meta chief said in an interview with Joe Rogan.

On Friday, Meta's transformation continued when the company announced to employees that it would end its work on diversity, equity and inclusion.

It abolished the role of head of department, ended recruitment targets for inclusion that required quota employment of a certain number of women and minorities, and said it would no longer prioritize minority-owned companies when working with suppliers, but would be driven by performance and ability.

Meta planned to "focus on how to implement fair and consistent practices that mitigate bias for everyone, regardless of your background," Janelle Gale, vice president of human resources, said in an internal post relayed to The New York Times.

The company also removed "themes" for transgender and non-binary people on its Messenger chat app, which allows users to customize the app's colors and wallpaper, two employees said. The change was reported earlier by 404 Media.

On the same day at Meta's offices in Silicon Valley, Texas and New York, facility managers were instructed to remove tampons and pads from men's restrooms that the company had placed for nonbinary and transgender employees using the men's restrooms who may need them.  said two employees.
