Cyprus reported on Friday another death from coronavirus and nine new cases out of 2.698 tests.

The 69-year old man who died on Thursday had underlying health problems and was treated at the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital. COVID-19 is the cause of his death.

Analysing the results during a press conference at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Leontios Kostrikis, member of the Advisory Body on the pandemic said that four new cases were detected from 1.447 tests conducted in the context of a government funded mass testing drive on 20,000 professionals in the public and private sector.

Out of 196 tests as part of the contact tracing process, three were negative, while from 254 tests conducted at the laboratories of the island’s hospitals, no positive cases were detected.
