Two new cases of coronavirus were detected from 1957 tests, authorities announced on Friday, with scientists expressing optimism for the future.
On the basis of the data so far, the number of confirmed cases in Cyprus has reached 891 including ten in the British Bases on the island.
Dr. Leontios Kostrikis, member of the Scientific Committee on the pandemic, told a press conference at the Ministry of Health that one case was detected from 153 contact tracing tests of confirmed cases and another positive case came up from 416 tests on a private initiative.
No cases were detected from the 286 tests at the General Hospitals Microbiology Labs, 224 tests on persons who returned to Cyprus, 10 tests from special groups through public health clinics and 868 tests on employees working in the food and beverage retail industry and nursing homes.
