The former president of the Hellenic Railways Organization (OSE) testified today before an appelate-level examining magistrate in Larissa, who is conducting the investigation into the rail accident at Tempi and its 57 fatalities.
The former president is accused of breach of duty for allowing the transfer to Larisa station of the 59-year-old station master on duty at the time of the accident, despite his inexperience and his not meeting the age criteria for the position.
Sources said that he claimed to have acted legally, as he simply ratified the recommendation made by OSE's Evaluation Committee regarding the transfer.
