"The effort continues unabated. As I have said many times, the elections will be held sometime in the spring, so we have basically entered the final stretch. I was consistent in my commitment that we would exhaust the four-year term and we did it, but as we are getting closer to the elections, it is a opportunity once again to tour all Greece," Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said in an interview with a regional radio station today, Friday.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis estimated that "we also have many friends who were not traditional supporters of New Democracy" and expressed the hope that "watching our work and our efforts, but above all our vision for the Greece of the future, they will trust us and this is something that makes me very optimistic about the outcome of the final election result".

The Greek Prime Minister visited also the airbase in Larissa. Mr Mitsotakis was briefed on the potential of the airbase and the technology of the unmanned aircraft MQ-9.

Greece and the United States have a defense cooperation in the Larissa airbase as US drones regularly operate from there, while projects for their maintenance and housing have been implemented.

Deputy Defence Minister Nikos Hardalias, the Chief of the National Hellenic Defence Staff Konstantinos Floros, Chief of the Hellenic Tactical Air Force Giorgos Fassoulas and the Ambassador of USA to Greece George Tsounis received the prime minister.

The number of public works scheduled for Thessaly make the region a champion of development in all of Greece, the Greek PM said today while at the central Greek city of Larissa.
