Mitsotakis to visit Tinos for August 15 celebrations

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis will travel to the island of Tinos on Monday to attend the local ritual of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary as well as marking the anniversary of the torpedoing of the Greek cruiser ‘Elli’ by an Italian submarine in 1940.

August 15th is the biggest celebration in Greece and the Prime Minister couldn't be absent from this occasion. Today is the day that marks a huge dat for all the Orthodox Christians in the world. Kyriakos Mitsotakis will go to to Tinos, a plac that is very religious in Greece and many consider the island as Virgin Mary's holy place.

Many tourists from around the globe travel to Tinos to see the church and go up on their knees as they pay respects to the Mother of Jesus Christ, who the Orthodox consider him as the savior and the son of God who gave his life for the humans.
