Parties with convicted leaders banned today from running in the Greek elections

An amendment that bans parties whose leaders have been convicted of crimes from running in the elections was passed late on Wednesday in parliament.

Ruling New Democracy (ND) and the PASOK-KINAL parties voted in favour of the amendment of the interior ministry.

Main opposition SYRIZA voted "present" while KKE, Elliniki Lysi and Mera25 voted against the amendment.
