Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in Washington for the NATO Summit

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis travels to Washington today to participate in the NATO Summit that will take place there.

With reference to the trip of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis to Washington in order to participate in the NATO Summit that will take place there, today's briefing of political editors, government spokesman Pavlos Marinakis, began.

"This year's Summit has a special symbolism, due to the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Alliance. It will also be the first time that the Summit will be held with 32 Allies, following the completion of the enlargement of the Alliance and the accession of Finland and Sweden," Marinakis said at the beginning of the briefing, stressing then the issues that will be on the agenda of the Summit.

According to her, the topics to be discussed at the Summit are "the strengthening of the Alliance's defence capabilities and the greater contribution from European NATO member states and Canada to the implementation of the provisions of the commitment to defence investments, the reaffirmation of support for Ukraine, as well as NATO's cooperation with partners such as the European Union and IndoPacific 4 – Australia.  Japan, New Zealand, South Korea."

G. Gerapetritis in the USA for the anniversary Summit of the Atlantic Alliance

Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis travels to the US, where he will participate in the Alliance's anniversary Summit in Washington, accompany the Prime Minister to the work of the Summit, his contacts with foreign officials and members of Congress and, at the same time, will make separate bilateral contacts with his counterparts who will participate in the Summit.

According to diplomatic sources, on Tuesday, July 9, Gerapetritis will participate in an event by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken dedicated to security, with emphasis on the "Women, Peace and Security" agenda, and will attend the event celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Alliance.

On Wednesday, July 10, Mr. Gerapetritis will attend a dinner hosted by Mr. Blinken for his counterparts at the Library of Congress, according to the same sources.
