Archbishop Elpidophoros of America concludes his Mount Athos visit

Archbishop Elpidophoros of America arrived on Thursday afternoon at the Xenophontos Monastery of Mount Athos, where he celebrated Epiphany as part of a four-day visit to the all-male monastic community, an iconic place for Orthodox Christianity all over the world.

His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America attended the vigil of Epiphany at the monastery, continuing on Friday morning with the Holy Liturgy and the ceremony for the throwing of the cross in the sea and the blessing of the waters.

His Eminence, the Archbishop of America arrived to Thessaloniki on Thursday morning and traveled by road to Ouranoupoli, before boarding on a boat to the monastery.

He was accompanied by 40 Greek Americans, including four priests, who were visiting Mt Athos as pilgrims.

Archbishop Elpidophoros of America concluded his four-day visit to Mount Athos, marking a meaningful journey that included visits to several monasteries.

Accompanied by a delegation of forty Greek-American businessmen from the USA, the Archbishop explored the spiritual and cultural richness of the Xenophontos, Simon Petra, Filotheou, Karakallou, and Pantokratoros monasteries, before departing, yesterday, for Thessaloniki.

The morning commenced with a visit to the cell of St. Anne, a significant site on Mount Athos.

Archbishop of America Elpidophoros is set to continue his travels, heading to Thessaloniki where he will engage in a series of meetings with distinguished institutional figures throughout the week.
