The 95-year-old Archbishop of Albania Anastasios is being transferred by Air Force aircraft to be admitted to the ICU of the "Evangelismos" hospital in Athens.

: The health condition of 95-year-old Archbishop of Albania Anastasios, who has been hospitalized in Tirana since December 30, has been seriously deteriorating. Thus, it was deemed necessary to transfer him to Athens and for this purpose an Air Force aircraft was made available to set up a salvation air bridge for one of the most beloved hierarchs of Orthodoxy.
According to information, his transfer will be carried out by a team of flying health personnel of EKAV, while he is expected to be admitted for hospitalization in the ICU of "Evangelismos" hospital. However, his condition is considered controlled, while according to reports he has suffered gastrorrhagia.
It is noted that the Archbishop had been admitted to a hospital in Albania a few days ago and at that time it was known that he had contracted a seasonal virus.
At the time, an announcement on the Archbishop's Facebook account stated: "His Beatitude Archbishop Anastasios of Albania was admitted to Hygeia Tirana Hospital for observation as a precaution, following the appearance of a seasonal virus. His state of health is absolutely stable, the attending doctors express their optimism."
It is recalled that in November 2020, the Archbishop of Albania was hospitalized again in the ICU of the "Evangelismos" hospital with coronavirus. His Beatitude Anastasios has been serving the Orthodox Church of Albania since 1991 and is literally the one who created it.
