The silver medal of Pavlos Kontides is the first Olympic medal for Cyprus at the Paris Games.
The race was extremely eventful as we even had the cancellation of the race in Marseille just as the sailors were ready to pass the third buoy out of five.
The final finally started at 17.10 Cyprus/Greece time, three hours after the scheduled time as the wind was not only very weak but also completely erratic.
The Cypriot sailor did not lose concentration despite the discomfort and managed to maintain second place in the final ranking.
