At the opening press conference at ITB Berlin, the German Travel Association (DRV) President Norbert Fiebig said Greece is the third most popular holiday destination among Germans for the summer of 2024 based on bookings.
“Early bird bookings for summer vacations are back – in 2024 they will be even stronger than ever before,” Fiebig said, summarizing this year’s travel trends recorded in the German market.
“The Germans want to travel… For their summer vacation, they are increasingly relying on the security and flexibility of package holidays.”
According to BoG data, in 2023, the number of inbound travellers rose by 17.6 percent to 32.7 million (up from 27.8 million in 2022) with visitors from Germany up by 9.5 percent to 4.7 million compared to 2022.
Germany and the United Kingdom traditionally are the largest markets for Greek tourism.
Top destinations for Germans remain Crete and Rhodes islands.
