Summer may be ending officially in few days but many people continue their holidays in September which is one of the best months to enjoy Greece!

Greek islands were once again a top choice this year.
However, for those who prefer vacations with less fuss of travelling, close to the Greek capital, inexpensive yet exciting, there’s an excellent alternative!
There is a beach, not far from Athens, that holds the title of the largest sandy coastline in all of Europe.
Monolithi Beach in Preveza is stretching approximately 25 kilometers from the village of Mytikas to Kastroyskia. Its name comes from a cluster of large rocks that once stood about ten meters from the shore.
These rocks rose above the sea surface until 1943, when German and Italian soldiers, as a form of “entertainment,” bombarded them with mortars and destroyed them.
It’s also worth noting that construction in the wider area is prohibited, as this zone is protected due to its proximity to Ancient Nikopolis, creating a breathtaking scenery!
And if you want to extend your holidays and you are up for a nice adventure; Preveza and Aktio have two big marinas from where you can charter a yacht and explore the Ionian!
