According to the trusted travel site Travel+Leisure there are 7 destinations in Europe that one possibly wouldn't think of visiting but they really worth a visit! The Greek town Thessaloniki ranks third on that list and here's why.

First on the list is Scotland's Outer Hebrides, Skye and the Hebrides found themselves seventh in this year's World's Best Islands in Europe ranking with Skye being arguably the most popular with travelers.

Second is Sardinia in Italy, a really beautiful island that will remind you a lot of Greece at its best! Sardinia is just an hour by plane from Rome and I would really recommend also a sailing trip there!

And third comes the Greek city Thessaloniki, "the bride of the North". This Northern port offers plenty for history lovers combined with a modern liveliness. Beautiful seaside places where you can enjoy a walk, a coffee or a night out across the city from the Port to the other end towards the airport. And of course Halkidiki is close by, a real marvel by all means!

When in Thessaloniki, don't miss the White Tower, the Roman Forum and the cobblestone streets of the historic quarter, Ano Poli. And I would add, a lunch with ouzo and fish "mezedes" by the sea and a night out at the beautiful and vibrant city center and the Ladadika.

The list includes also:
#4 Belgrade, Serbia
#5 Vicenza, Italy
# 6 Ljubljana, Slovenia
#7 Vence, France
