Billionaire Elon Musk, who has been tasked with cutting spending by the US federal government, took the stage at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) outside Washington on Thursday (February 20th) holding a chainsaw, a gift from Argentine President Javier Millay.
The Tesla CEO, who has emerged as perhaps President Trump's most influential adviser, spoke of his vision to cut government spending and reduce the federal workforce.
Musk appeared on stage, wearing sunglasses and his signature black hat with the slogan "Make America Great Again." He then announced that the Argentine president had a gift for him, with Millay appearing on stage in a red chainsaw and handing it to Musk. "It's about bureaucracy," she told him.
Engraved on the chainsaw was Millay's motto, "Viva la libertad, carajo" ("Long live freedom, damn").
"This is the chainsaw of bureaucracy," Musk said, raising the chainsaw in National Harbor, Maryland. The red metal chainsaw, given to him earlier in the day by Millay, was engraved on the side of the Argentine leader's slogan: "Viva la libertad, carajo," which in free translation means "Long live freedom, damn!"
Musk is leading a campaign of sweeping cuts under U.S. President Donald Trump.
Musk fires back at Democrats accusing Biden administration of "treason"
Musk blamed the previous Biden administration for its immigration policies, citing an app used by nearly 1 million people to allow them to enter the U.S. with two-year permits with the right to work. He lashed out at Biden and Democrats for doing this as an "investment" to gain more support in swinging states.
"A lot of people don't appreciate enough that this was a real hoax on a scale to tip the scales of democracy in America," Musk said before Newsmax host Rob Schmidt asked him, "Treason?"
When Schmidt asked him if he would consider auditing the Federal Reserve, Musk replied: "Yes, of course, since we do." "Garbage is almost everywhere," Musk said.
