The New Jersey senator, who was acquitted of an earlier corruption indictment in 2017, was convicted of bribery involving businessmen and foreign governments.
Menendez was found guilty of all 18 charges.
Among the charges he faced, the obstruction of the work of justice, as well as the conspiracy to bribe and extortion.
As the court decision was announced, Senator Menendez leaned forward, elbows on the table and chin resting on his hands.
The verdict is likely to intensify pressure on Menendez to step down before his term ends. However, the Constitution and the rules of the Senate do not provide for him to resign his seat upon conviction. If he refuses, senators' only option is to hold a rare impeachment vote.
