In the statement, Onex said that the visit signals the first time a secretary of a new Trump administration comes to Greece, which underlines the close cooperation between Greece and the United States in the shipyards sector. The visit further confirms that the group enjoys the confidence and support of both governments, which recognize its vision and dynamic, it added.
Burgum was welcomed to the Onex Elefsis Shipyards facilities by the president of the Hellenic Shipyards Association, Panos Xenokostas, and was accompanied by Environment & Energy Minister Stavros Papastavrou. The US official also met bilaterally at the shipyards with Development Minister Takis Theodorikakos and Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy Minister Vassilis Kikilias.
Xenokostas presented Onex group's multilayer investment plan and project progress in recent years, while the talks focused on the funding provided by the US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), which highlights the confidence in the group and in its strategy for the overall upgrade of the Elefsis Shipyards, the statement said.
