The reasons why members of the British royal family do not put on a seat belt when in a car is explained by a safety expert.

Michael Chandler explained that royals drive without seat belts due to "safety reasons," as reported by People.
"As you can imagine, there are concerns about getting a gentleman out of a vehicle as soon as possible," he said.
"It is likely that there will be a risk-based approach," he added.
"There will be a risk assessment, the outcome of which will determine whether or not additional precautions need to be taken."
Comfort and appearance also play a role, especially at events where royals must wear military uniform or formal attire.
"If they get in and out of a vehicle, the kings will be less inclined to put on their seat belt every time," Chandler explained.
"With men, for example, a seat belt can wrinkle shirts and so that can also be a factor," he added.
The truth is that this is not always the case. "They actually wear seat belts, probably a lot more than people realize," he said.
"In those cases where they travel relatively quickly through London or on motorways, they definitely wear seat belts," he said.
