More than 66 million Americans have voted so far, according to data from the University of Florida Elections Laboratory.
In Wisconsin, one of the battle states that can decide the outcome of the election and where candidates will campaign on Friday, more than 1 million ballots have been cast. According to the BBC, polls show Kamala Harris narrowly ahead of Donald Trump by one percentage point – 48% to 47%.
Trump has a slight lead in key key states Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, North Carolina and Pennsylvania. In the other two states — Michigan and Wisconsin — Harris had been leading since early August, sometimes by two or three points, but the gap has now narrowed.
Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin were Democratic strongholds before Trump sided with them on his way to winning the presidency in 2016. Biden recaptured them in 2020, and if Harris can do the same, then she will be on course for electoral victory.
The individual polls used to create these averages have a margin of error of around three to four percentage points, so any candidate could do better or worse than the numbers currently suggest.
