The US military honoured frontline coronavirus responders with formation flights over New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania on Tuesday.

Residents heard a few seconds of jet noise and saw a formation of 12 aircraft from two elite flight squadrons, Navy Blue Angels and Air Force Thunderbirds, fly overhead to salute health care workers, first responders, military and other essential workers.
"We are truly excited to take to the skies with our Navy counterparts for a nationwide tribute to the men and women keeping our communities safe," US Air Force Lieutenant Colonel John Caldwell said in a news release.
"We hope to give Americans a touching display of American resolve that honors those serving on the frontline of our fight with COVID-19."
New York and New Jersey have been particularly hard hit in the coronavirus pandemic.
Several similar events are planned in other badly-affected areas over the coming weeks under the name America Strong, according to the military.
