As the polar cold continues to prevail in much of the US, incredible images were captured in Detroit, Michigan, when an entire area was flooded by a pipe that broke and then, due to low temperatures, reaching 19.4 Fahrenheit (-7 degrees Celsius), the water - and everything around it - froze.

Cars and houses, in Detroit, USA, were covered by the waters which then froze, creating many problems but also incredible images.
It all started when a pipeline broke and flooded an entire area. While authorities in Detroit were trying to deal with what local media called the "flood of the century," the temperature plummeted and everything froze.
The temperature dropped to -7°C (19.4F), causing the waters from the broken pipeline that had flooded everything to freeze, effectively turning entire parts of the city into an icy landscape.
190 basements were flooded and 174 homes were left unheated under these polar temperatures.
While a total of 398 homes were affected and 83 families were forced to move to hotels.
